“Sherry crack! This Jura 30 years old is outstanding.”
90
A terrifying 30 year old whisky from Jura. The name 'Camas an Staca' translates to be simply 'Standing Stone' and refers to one of the 8 ancient stones dotted about the island of Jura.
The whisky has been matured in American oak for 27 years before being finishing in Gonzalez Byass Oloroso butts for 3 years before bottling at 44% ABV. This whisky is quite an experience in itself.
This dram has a tawny-like color.
Nose (90): more than average.
floral, honey, nuts, pepper, citrus.
“Very interesting single malt. More subtle than the old 10 years old Sherry Oak but nicer at the same time. This whisky shows more of the Macallan Spirit than the old sherry monster”
89
Macallan Gold was released in late 2012 as part of a series of colour-themed bottlings introduced to replace the distillery's age-statement expressions.
This batch of Macallan Gold has been produced from 9-15yo first fill and refill sherry casks and is designed to sit between the now-defunct 10yo Sherry Oak and 10yo Fine Oak bottlings.
This dram has a amber-like color.
Nose (89): more than average.
honey, nuts, citrus, vanilla.
Very nice aroma. Really does the work. It is slightly more subtle than 10 years old Sherry Oak.
Palate (90): powerful, oily.
nuts, honey, wood, citrus, spices, tobacco.
Very nice whisky. Definitively it is a nice Macallan to initiate yourself in the range.
Finish (89): longer than average.
nuts, honey, citrus.
So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this Macallan Gold with 89 points over 100.

Maybe the fuckingMayans were right… maybe not ( Liars! I want my money back!) but I decided to do something nice and special on December, 20th… just in case
So I went into my wardrobe and grabbed a bottle of something from the past, something hard to find anymore and something good.
Error 404: Bottle not found! Just kidding. I grabbed this bottled of Glenfiddich instead.
This liqueur is a mix of Glenfiddich and tons of honey, and I mean tons and tons of honey. For sure they have discontinued it because there was no more honey in Scotland.
How is it like?! I hear you cry.
Let me show it with a song…
Here is the proper tasting note.
“Honey! Honey! Oh Man! Very nice. One of the best liqueurs I have had and definitively has lots of Glenfiddich inside”
86
Glenfiddich Liqueur is outstanding, neither too rich nor too sweet.
It maintains the traditional softness of a liqueur, but is enhanced by the warmth of oak casks and the subtle taste and aroma of Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
The spicy, honey flavour is perfect over ice in summer or drunk neat for a warming winter, after-dinner digestif.
You better stock up bottles of this one as it is discontinued. You have been warned.
This dram has a amber-like color.
Nose (81): average.
honey, citrus, floral, spices.
“Spring has come to whisky! Such subtle perfection in this dram...”
92
This ancient Tamnavulin is a star of our much-lauded Anniversary Selection. Rich and sweet, yet graceful, this gets away with its age thanks to an abundance of honey and cocoa notes on nose and palate.
This dram has a amber-like color.
Nose (91): more than average.
floral, honey, citrus, lavender.
Lovely subtle
Apart of three very interesting That Boutique-y whiskies, the box had eleven samples of the new bottling, that if you know them are stunning most of times… just thinking of this Bowmore, this Glenturret or … ejem… well… to the point, about these eleven single cask whiskies.
Kids! Don’t do this at home! Eleven drams, one evening. Let’s find the best one.
Whisky fairy knocked a few days ago at home with a huge amount of samples from Master of Malt new bottlings, three new That Boutique-y whiskies and almost a dozen of their latest Single Cask releases.
I will taste today the three That Boutique-y whiskies: Invergordon, Springbank and Bowmore. They are a range of bottles crafted in small batches of which I reviewed seven of them just a few months ago ( many of them sold out by now unfortunately for you ).
One of the things I love about these bottling are the awesome labels… well and the fact that the whiskies inside the bottle are great. Let’s taste them…
“Massive sherry character for a six years old Tobermory. Beware of the peat”
89
Ledaig is the peated spirit made at Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull. This feisty young cask strength whippersnapper shows plenty of muscle and exhibits flavours of bonfires, honey and fruit cake thanks to maturation in a sherry cask. A massive hit at 2012's TWE Whisky Show.
This dram has a cooper-like color.
Nose (88): strong.
honey, peat, fruity, leather, nuts.
Palate (89): powerful, oily.
peat, honey, citrus.
Finish (89): longer than average.
peat, citrus.
So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this Ledaig (Tobermory) 2005 / 6 Year Old / Sherry Butt Island Whisky with 89 points over 100.
“Somewhat peated and very floral... after tasting Jura 16yo I am considering that my miniatures of Jura maybe be corrupted.”

Off the west coast of Scotland lies a magical island of soft sea breezes, freshly caught lobster and a bank that comes once a week. As good as life used to be. One shop, one pub, one community. One fine malt whisky distillery. A gift from nature. Pure spring water, clean fresh air and generations of tradition quietly crafting a more delicate island malt. Visit the island, meet the people, drink the whisky.
This dram has a amber-like color.
Nose (86): more than average.
peat, floral, honey, spices, citrus.
