By Miguel in Tasting , St George

A few days ago I write my review of English Whisky Chapter 13,14 and 15 and today I want to review with you their new additions to the range, their NAS Classic and Peated bottle.

The idea behind this new range of whisky is,… well… you can read on their page. The point is to join again the wagon of NAS whisky… if Scotland is doing it, why not?! You all know what I think of NAS whiskies ( many of them are just for ripping you off… maybe not now but you will see… ) , but in this case I will do an exception and I will set my prejudices to a side, these whiskies are priced around £30 and they are both quite good ( with very ugly labels! ).

Let’s taste them…

English Whisky Chapter 13, 14 and 15 Review

By Miguel in Tasting , St George

English Whisky you say? Yep, and it is not the only one but the first of this new wave of world whiskies. St. George distillery is located at Norfolk, England and has been producing whisky since 200(6?). Yet another one jumping in the whisky wagon? Well, so I thought until I tasted it.

My first experience with St. George Whisky was with their peated spirit ( not yet whisky! ) Chapter 4. I did a tasting of several Ardbeg and I wanted to start with something soft and light and Kaboom!. The little Chapter 4 almost eclipse the peat punch of Ardbeg.

So when I saw Andrew at The Whisky Show 2013 at the English Whisky stand I decided that this year I had to give them a fair chance and not tasting their whiskies right after Karuizawa :) #badluck

By Andrew suggestion I tasted them in the following order…

The first official release of proper three year old unpeated single malt whisky from England's St. George's distillery, which has become a phenomenon following recent media coverage.

St. George English whiskies: Chapter 6, Chapter 9 and Chapter 11

By Miguel in Tasting , Featured , St George

I tasted a very nice St. George English Whisky, well, not a whisky yet in fact, a few years ago when doing a vertical tasting of Ardbeg whiskies. I was really ashtonished by the awesomeness of that spirit and I have been since then willing to taste new whiskies from this distillery.

My chance appeared at The Whisky Show 2012 in London, where English Whisky Co has a shared stand with Amrut showcasing some of their whiskies.

So concentrated drinking I was that I forgot about taking pictures of the stand. Where we were? Ah, right… the whiskies…

English Whisky for an English Royal Wedding: April's order

By Miguel in Orders , St George , The Macallan

From The Whisky Exchange: A fine scotch single malt, an english whisky, several VSOP cognacs, a Polish vodka and a Caribbean rum. What else can I ask for?

English Whisky St George Royal Wedding and Macallan 21 years old Fine Oak

I got yesterday my order with English Whisky St. George decanter for the Royal marriage of prince William and Katie Middleton. I really wanted this want bad!, english whisky to conmemorate an english soon-to-be-king wedding, it is a premier! :). It seems that this bottling is from a batch that mix several types of casks: rhum, madeira, and sherry.

Also I ordered a Macallan 21 Fine Oak, it is rather expensive but look what cool box and bottle. People says the whisky is up to the level.

Saint George English Whisky Chapter 4 Tasting note

By Miguel in Tasting , Recommended , St George

“ I took this one before an Ardbeg tasting to start with something soft and easy to warm up myself before the Ardbeg-rathon. And when I do the first sip I find this little jewel. It is worth each pound you pay for it and it is not expensive on the other hand.”
