The 2011 release of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection edition of Weller whisky. It's the wheated entry in the collection and bottled at an eye-watering 66.75%.

One of the stars of an already impressive line-up for 2011.

If you like this Kentucky straight bourbon, you should check the other two bourbons of the Antique Collection: Thomas H Handy and George T Stagg. Mindblowing stuff if you ask my opinion.

This dram has a tawny-like color.

Nose (92): more than average. corn, old, wood, spices, honey, raisins, cinnamon, floral.

Palate (93): smooth, powerful, oily. corn, wood, spices, honey, pepper, cinnamon, wood. Very hoy whiskey. It burns.

Finish (90): longer than average. honey, corn, wood, spices.

So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this William Larue Weller / Bot.2011 with 92 points over 100.

Palate (91): light, powerful. floral, corn, vanilla, wood, floral, pepper, bread.

Finish (89): very long. floral, corn, vanilla, bread.

Buffalo Trace, who makes this 10 year old whisky, was named Distiller of the Year by Whiskey Magazine in 2005 and 2007 and by the Wine Enthusiast in 2006.

Paul Pacult of the The Spirit Journal gave it four stars and said: "Easily one of the most tactile yet assertive and expressive bourbons I've tasted in the last two years; fasten your seatbelts."

In The Color of the Money, Paul Newman, a pool hustler Eddie Felson finds the young, promising pool player Vincent, Tom Cruise, in a local bar and he sees in him a younger version of himself.
To try and make it as in the old days, Eddie offers to teach Vincent how to be a hustler.
After some hesitations Vincent accepts and Eddie takes him and Vincent’s girlfriend Carmen on a tour through the country to work the pool halls.
However, Vincent’s tendency to show off his talent and by doing so warning off the players and losing money, soon leads to a confrontation with Eddie.

“ Bottle at 70.7%, this bourbon has to be tasted with precaution. But once you take a sip of it, it explodes on your mouth with a sweet fireworks. The finish is rather good also. Just a bit expensive for my budget.”

The perennial favorite and last year’s winner of the “Bourbon of the Year” award by Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible, the 2010 George T. Stagg was found in Warehouses H, I, K and L. This uncut, unfiltered bourbon was distilled back in the winter of 1993 and weighs in at 143 proof—some strong stuff! This whiskey tastes of dark chocolate, vanilla and coffe.
