Aberlour A'bunadh Batch 40 single malt is a natural cask strength Scotch. Taken directly from specially selected sherry casks it is bottled as simply as possible without the use of modern filtering methods or the addition of water. Aberlour Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1826 in the town of Aberlour in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region and is situated on the northern edge of Ben Rinnes mountain which accumulates snow and rainwater across its peaty moors and supplies cold, soft spring water to the distillery. Around a half of the spirit produced from Aberlour’s four copper stills is destined for single malts whilst much of the rest contributes to the Chivas brands of blended scotch. Aberlour malt whisky is matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and Aberlour A’bunadh single malt whisky has matured solely in sherry casks. Aberlour Distillery has a visitor centre offering a distillery tour and is an established participant in the popular Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. “Not promising at first but this A'bunadh has a delightful sherry character with lots of nuts, wood and cocoa. You can't beat its price/quality ratio”This dram has a tawny-like color.
Nose (90): more than average. honey, nuts, citrus, spices, wood, vanilla. Not the classic sherry monster nose. But quite a good amount of nuts and citrus with a twist of vanilla.
Taste (91): powerful, oily. honey, nuts, citrus, cinnamon, wood, cocoa.
Finish (91): longer than average. honey, wood, cocoa.
